For a good time spent in each city I think 3-5 days is good for observing around. Many bloggers already explain and give more information in each destination. As I work with Canadian too. This is a destination I recommend to visit.
Lets me tell why I recommend those places.
Why Canadian should visit Bangkok ?
Bangkok is a city that hard to skip. why ? This is the easiest place to get more option of arrival, flight and departure flight. And if you look often enough, you can get a good ticket flight rate. I know that Bangkok well known as a traffic jam. I am not saying that you should come to see traffic jam. There is something cool here that worth visit.
Just know the meaning for Sukhothai means, you will love to come. Sukhothai means the dawn of happiness. Cool name right. Visitor can enjoy easy sightseeing by grab a bike and observe the world heritage. Another way to enjoy the time in Sukhothai is to visit an organic farm. Riding on the back of a buffalo is a little adventure and working in rice field will make you know the farmer life better.
Visit small village to make gold or take part in a village to do craft work . Do you like this kind of authentic experience when visits Sukhothai?
This is a city in the north of Thailand, which is totally different from central and southern part of the country. Those three cities is very near one another, but you can select to spend more time in different place as you like

A lot of things in Thailand you can bring back to Canada. The Buddha image is not souvenir and when take out from Thailand you need permission. Thai people are really serious about the misuse of Buddha statues and put to impropriate area.
